Probation
In Austin and much of Texas, almost everyone who is charged with a first-offense felony is offered the option of probation. When you get probation, you will be supplied with a list of 27 to 35 conditions from the court. You must follow these in order to stay out of jail.
If you have violated your probation or fear a parole revocation, please seek the counsel of a lawyer immediately to help you stay out of jail. Call Ira L. Davis, Attorney at Law at 512-472-9154 or E-mail me now for a free confidential consultation.
Conditions of Probation need to be followed in order to stay out of jail. Some standard conditions of probation include informing the court of where you are living, not leaving the country, working, supporting your dependents, seeking counseling, addiction treatment, community education, community service or more.
One violation can trigger a motion to revoke probation. Your probation officer informs a prosecutor who files a motion signed by a judge. An arrest may follow.
Seek legal counsel ahead of time before the arrest happens and it's too late. I can counsel you, problem-solve with you and help you straighten this matter out. I have done this for over 20 years and have an understanding of the issues that you are facing and how to help you overcome them.
If you have been arrested, I can also represent you and often get you out on bond.
Conditions of Parole begin after you are released from prison, before your sentence is completed. If the conditions of parole are violated, you can be returned to prison. State parole boards manage the parole of people who are released from state prisons.
If parole is granted, you meet with a parole officer and follow all conditions set forth, including no firearms and regular timely meetings with a parole officer and others.
If you have violated parole, you can be returned to prison. It is far better and less costly to seek the counsel of a lawyer experienced in problem-solving for people who have committed parole violations. You may possibly keep your freedom.
Parole for federal offenses has been abolished.
